Job Description
The Continuous Improvement Specialist plays a critical role in driving operational excellence across the production process by identifying, documenting, and implementing improvements in machine performance, production capacity, and employee capabilities. The role focuses on tracking performance metrics, initiating Kaizen (continuous improvement) activities, documenting best practices and learning, and analysing data to drive informed decisions. The specialist will actively collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure continuous process improvement, while reporting findings and outcomes to the Site Technical Manager.
Key Responsibilities
1. Track, analyse, and report on performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency, safety, and quality.
2. Analysing the production processed and structures to determine opportunities for improvement.
3. Lead and support Kaizen (machine improvement) initiatives, driving sustainable improvements across production processes.
4. Document capability-building activities and ensure that training and development efforts are aligned with operational goals.
5. Develop, implement, and document standardized work practices to enhance performance and reduce variability.
6. Analyse data from performance reports and improvement activities to provide actionable insights to management.
7. Maintain comprehensive records of all improvement initiatives, Kaizen projects, and training programs.
8. Facilitate cross-functional workshops and meetings to communicate improvement opportunities and share best practices.
9. Work closely with maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance, uptime, and reliability.
10. Ensure that all continuous improvement initiatives comply with Safey and Food Safety requirements
11. Utilization capacity documentation and understanding of the loss contributors and prioritization.
12. Provide regular reports to the Site Technical Manager, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for further improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Education: Diploma/ Higher diploma in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
2. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing/TPM, or operations within a production environment.
3. Technical Skills: Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar). Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
4. Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and best practices in continuous improvement.
5. Certifications: Lean or Six Sigma certification (preferred but not required).
6. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to influence and motivate others to embrace continuous improvement.
7. Other Requirements: Flexibility to work across day and night shifts as needed.
